During the visit, the two sides held a book donation ceremony for LuoXue Integration. On behalf of Yiling Pharmaceutical, Sun Xuefei, head of the company’s International Trade Center, presented the book to Professor Jalan Maluleem, Vice President of Krirk University. Offering a systematic account of the core achievements of collateral disease theory, the book is a comprehensive collection of research in the field and embodies the findings accumulated by Yiling Pharmaceutical over many years. The donation is intended to broaden the academic dissemination of collateral disease studies in Thailand and provide a new platform for TCM academic exchange between China and Thailand.

As a pioneer in the international development of traditional Chinese medicine, Yiling Pharmaceutical has accumulated extensive experience in promoting education in collateral disease studies. Since the textbook Collateral Disease Theory in Practice was included in the “New Century Innovative Textbook Series for TCM Colleges and Universities Nationwide” in 2006, the course has been introduced at more than 40 medical colleges and universities across China, covering TCM higher-education institutions in every province. Internationally, the English-language course Collateral Disease Theory in Practice has been offered at higher medical institutions including the Singapore College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Nanyang Zhongjing College of Chinese Medicine. Through exposure to collateral disease theory, people in a number of countries have gained a greater understanding of traditional Chinese medicine. The course has also been approved in the United States as an accredited continuing-education course for TCM practitioners and acupuncturists. In recent years, collateral disease societies have been established in the United States, Canada, Europe and Thailand, forming an international network dedicated to promoting TCM culture and cultivating TCM professionals.
The overseas forums of the International Congress on Luobing Theory have played an important role in bringing collateral disease theory to a global audience. On September 21, 2024, the Overseas Forum of the 20th International Congress on Luobing Theory was held in Bangkok, Thailand. It was jointly organized by the Collateral Disease Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University and the Thai Collateral Disease Society. Experts and scholars from 13 countries and regions attended the event to share the latest research findings and clinical experience relating to collateral disease theory. As an important part of the congress, the Thai Collateral Disease Society was formally established in 2024. Its establishment marked a significant step in Yiling Pharmaceutical’s efforts to promote the long-term development of collateral disease studies in Southeast Asia.
Yiling Pharmaceutical has also made substantial progress in registering its patented traditional Chinese medicines in Thailand. Lianhua Qingwen Capsules were approved for marketing in Thailand in 2020, becoming the country’s first imported modern herbal medicine. In 2025, six additional indications for respiratory diseases were approved. Other products, including Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsules, Bazi Bushen Capsules, Shensong Yangxin Capsules and Jinlida Granules, have also been registered and subsequently launched in the Thai market.

During a meeting with the Thai delegation, the two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in TCM education. As an important platform for higher-education collaboration between China and Thailand, Krirk University currently offers master’s and doctoral degree programmes in traditional Chinese medicine and is actively working to establish an undergraduate TCM programme. At the meeting, Yiling Pharmaceutical and Krirk University expressed their intention to cooperate on the joint development of an undergraduate TCM curriculum. Under the proposed initiative, Collateral Disease Theory in Practice would be incorporated into the teaching system of the university’s TCM programme. The two sides also plan to develop bilingual teaching resources tailored to students in Southeast Asia by integrating distinctive elements of Thai traditional medicine.
From its adoption as a textbook at more than 40 Chinese colleges and universities, to the introduction of its English-language course in multiple countries, and its recognition within the continuing-education accreditation system for TCM practitioners in the United States, education in collateral disease theory has continued to expand its global reach. The introduction of LuoXue Integration to Krirk University represents another important step in bringing collateral disease education into Southeast Asian universities and opens up new opportunities for China and Thailand to cooperate in traditional medicine education and academic exchange.
Looking ahead, Yiling Pharmaceutical hopes to use this exchange as a starting point for working with Krirk University to further refine their joint curriculum-development plans, deepen cooperation in TCM education, establish a lasting presence for collateral disease theory in Southeast Asia and continue advancing the international development of traditional Chinese medicine.
